This is not only a hiking tour in Ihlara Canyon, but also takes you to explore one of the biggest underground cities of Cappadocia.
Visit the longest, deepest and most famous valley of Cappadocia on this 5 km walking tour, starting at Ihlara village. During the hike, which takes you along the Melendiz River, Byzantine cave churches and dwellings will be visited.
Ihlara Canyon has 105 cave churches and monasteries, out of which approximately 20 have Byzantine frescos on the interior. In addition to this, there are over 1000 old cave dwellings and pigeon houses. This canyon area, encompassing the villages of Ihlara, Selime, Guzelyurt, Belisirma and Yaprakhisar, was one of the important education centres for early Anatolian Christians after Goreme.
