Yunak Evleri is a combination of six cave houses with a total of 30 private cave rooms dating back to the 5th and 6th centuries and crowned with a 19th century Greek Mansion.
The name of the neighbourhood "Yunak" comes from the old days when women used to do all their washing and of course, socialising by the fountain located at the village square. Being by the fountain and at the Yunak was the centre of daily life before people had running water at home.
These exceptional cave houses are renovated and decorated with care and in their own distinct style while strictly respecting the local character. The decor is elegant and personalized with beautiful hand-crafted furnishings and antiques. With 30 rooms, Yunak Evleri is small enough to be intimate, yet large enough to offer you privacy.
This accommodation provider has taken action to address one or more issues (whether environmental, social or cultural) which will contribute positively to the long term viability of the destination and hence their site displays a Caring for the destination rating.
Main area of focus in Caring for the Destination:
The hotel donates US$ 1 from each paid accommodation to LOSEV, which is the Foundation for Children with Leukaemia.
Detailed description of the Caring for the Destination Initiative:
At Yunak Evleri, a curious atmosphere abounds, with an artfully conceived lodging hewn from 5th century cave dwellings carved into the surrealistic rocky landscape of Cappadocia. The character of the hotel offers folkloristic elements such as embroidery and carvings with candles burning in small hollows - all uniquely set into very habitable caves.
